About Us

Our story began with a shared passion for creativity, community, and a little bit of serendipity.

Elizabeth, who grew up in Missouri and has journeyed through vibrant cities like Atlanta,

Wichita, San Francisco, Ecuador, and Bogotá, studied design in Atlanta and forged her unique

path as a faux painter. Her natural talent soon evolved into teaching and a popular sip-and-paint

business that became a beloved local activity.

Mike, a lifelong Illinois resident and Illinois State University graduate, brought his expertise in

Information Technology management to the partnership. Their paths converged online while

Elizabeth was in Decatur and Mike in Mahomet. Beyond their professional pursuits, their shared

sense of humor—and one unforgettable Bob Zany comedy show—sparked a connection that led

to marriage and the merging of two families.

In 2014, Elizabeth established her studio in Mahomet, and a year later, the couple tied the knot.

Initially a space dedicated solely to sip-and-paint sessions, the studio quickly became a

community hub when visitors mistook it for a boutique. In 2017, inspired by the bright yellow

door of her studio, Elizabeth launched Yellow & Co., offering carefully curated merchandise that

resonated with locals and visitors alike. Within six months, the boutique's growing popularity

necessitated a move to a larger space, which soon evolved into a dual-purpose venue featuring

both a boutique and a creative classroom.

By 2019, the success of Yellow & Co. led to the expansion into a neighboring storefront,

dedicating the original location entirely to the boutique. As trends shifted post-pandemic, the

demand for sip-and-paint sessions declined, prompting Mike and Elizabeth to reimagine their

space. They transformed it into a dynamic venue hosting comedy shows, live music, trivia

nights, and other events that brought nationally recognized talent to Mahomet.

Their journey is one of adaptability and community spirit. With a brand-new, custom-designed

building boasting enhanced features like additional restrooms, a dedicated green room, expanded

storage, and a welcoming patio, Yellow & Co. continues to flourish. Today, the boutique and

entertainment venue stand as a testament to creativity, resilience, and a heartfelt commitment to

bringing people together.
